Tip Of The Hat: Colbert Donated $800,000 for WHAT?!

shutterstock_155403716-small1Teacher Appreciation Week just got infinitely more awesome for educators in South Carolina.

Comedian Stephen Colbert announced that he’ll be making an $800,000 donation to South Carolina public schools. The money will fund every existing grant request SC teachers have made on the crowdfunding website DonorsChoose.org.

Colbert recently auctioned off the set of “The Colbert Report” to raise proceeds for the donation, and partnered with charities Share Fair Nation and ScanSource to make it all possible. As a native South Carolinian, it was a project close to Colbert’s heart.

Colbert made the announcement on a live video feed on May 7 for an elementary school audience. See the footage below!
