Little Free Libraries Everywhere, Please! I’m Head-Over-Heels In Love With This Idea!

We are absolutely in love with this! I can’t believe there aren’t more of these things around yet!

The idea is super simple: a Little Free Library operates under a ‘take a book, return a book’ policy. So you can bring an old book you don’t want anymore and trade it for a new book to read. The best part, though? You may not even have to leave your neighborhood to do so. Seriously. If Little Free Libraries take off like we hope and expect them to, there should be one within easy walking distance of you soon!

Since 2009, Little Free Library has been working diligently to promote literacy and build a sense of community through books. The first physical Little Free Library, in fact, was designed as a miniature schoolhouse and placed in a front yard. From there, the idea has flourished. By January 2014, the number of registered Little Free Libraries across the globe was estimated to be 15,000.

Watch this video and see for yourself how Little Free Library is spreading a love for reading to others!
